End of Summer
End of Summer
So it is, almost here.
I sense a change in the air.
The Fall will come on the wind.
The leaves will turn color, of orange, yellow, red
They will drop carefully onto my head.
And I will note the change
As I close my eyes
To the Sun.

Uh, summer is over as of today…??
Okay, so my first love of writing is for poetry. For years I wrote, have about 120 good poems out of the countless pages of verse I’ve written. Somewhere, at the back of my closet, lies all my writings in note book, clutch bag and folder.
Right off the top of my head, I have only one memorized. Am not sure why I remember that particular one and not the rest, though the titles and a few lines do stand out. And it’s fall, not spring when the most of my stuff was written. I guess I love this time of the year, the cool and the shady of the season. It's got the most wonderful holidays too: Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. (Well, Christmas is just outside of autumn but we don't care, do we??) My son's birthday... They are family oriented and that’s what makes them special.
As I picture the season, gatherings are all I see: quality time with loved ones. Relatives come from out of town and stay for weeks on end. We go on trips to visit some faraway place we’ve never been. We cook foods we hadn’t all year long, and we get and give presents we had always longed for. Our hearts swell and break. We rejoice and sorrow at memories made and people loved and lost.
As a teen blogger, naturally my melancholy thoughts go to my young adults during this time. They’ve gone off to school and I miss seeing their faces terribly. I’ve watched them grow up before my very eyes, and to know they are almost gone from the nest is disheartening. We have done so much as a group, it’s sad to see them all scattered to the wind. The holidays are coming up fast and I hope I can gather them again, as we bring together any family member into the fold during this time.
I still want them near (Un Libro, Mil Mundos), I still want them available (Nintendo Wii), I still want them to have F U N (Yu-Gi-Oh)! We cannot mourn what we've lost (Teen Scene) but should be happy at what we've gained............ each other!
And as all things go, changes happen but for naught. Good things are destined and all we can do is hold on, and hope that there are better things under the sun – or clouds as the season so decries!
Until next time,
~Miss Sue
