Un Mundo, Mil Libros... Yes! This is intentional!

Hello and happy to you!

Having just had our "Día de los Niños" on a day where most teens of the valley are enjoying fun, sun and music at the Coachella Music and Arts Festival, I have to say our little program was a success! The different layers to our event included balloon art, face painting and a song or two by our local talent, Mark Guerrero. While a majority of our "niños" were teens, they were still very impressed by the talent of Mr. Guerrero. A few sang along with his rendition of the Beatle's song, "Yellow Submarine" and Elvis's "Blue Suede Shoes". He also did his father'song, a version of "Cocktails for Two" called "Tacos for Two", which really got the crowd laughing.

Also on this warm day in April, down at Mecca, Mr. Miguel and Miss Letty started up the third season of "Un Libro, Mil Mundos". I do hope it is going well as Coachella will begin its 4th season this coming week. Our chosen book is "Always Running" by Luis Rodriguez. Tia Arlene has been down these days (hugggsss!!) but we hope things get easier, if not better, and she returns to us with a smile on her face. After substituting at Desert Hot Springs Library as host for their monthly Yu-Gi-Oh! tournament - where COA teens placed pretty low against them... grrr! - the lovely Miss Doreen called me to confirm for May, and was very interested in having our reading program started there! Would love to get it going where she says there are some good readers who would love to have an adventure with a book. Woot!

Well, the hour is closing in on me and I guess I have to go and leave all my pretty papel picado up for the weekend. I don't think I'll have Miss Sandra take it down until May Day.

Until next time,

~Miss Sue
