The Norco Library has been serving the residents of the Norco area since July 1930. It is in the heart of a small animal keeping community affectionally known as “Horsetown USA”. The library started in the old Norco Department Store with about 500 books borrowed from the Riverside County Library. It was later moved to the original Norco Elementary School then to a store front building, all on Hamner Avenue. In 1993, the library moved to its current location, the former Norco City Hall. Norco Library has been designated as “America’s Horse Library” because it houses a unique and extensive collection of equine related materials consisting of books, magazines, and horse training DVD’s. The library provides for needs of 28,000 residents and also extends services to the growing and diverse neighboring areas. The atmosphere of the library is friendly and cozy. It offers preschool and on the lap storytimes, craft activities for families, a reading club for adults, homework help, bilingual storytime, free movies, summer reading program and adult ESL classes. Tutors and students of various ages use the library as a study area for lessons and instructions. The library’s community room provides a meeting place for local community groups and organizations.
